Samsung Galaxy repair, by model
Galaxy phones come in three families that repair differently: the S and Note flagships with curved OLED screens, the A series with flat screens and lower part prices, and the folding Z phones. Here is what applies to yours.
Models we see
| Family | Models | Screen | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S | S21 through S26, Plus and Ultra | OLED assembly, often with frame | Ultra models have curved edges and the stylus on the newer ones |
| Galaxy A | A14 through A56 and the A0x range | Flat OLED or LCD | Lower part prices; most common family on the bench |
| Galaxy Z | Z Fold 3 through 7, Z Flip 3 through 7 | Inner folding panel or outer cover screen | Inner screens are the most expensive repair on any phone we do |
| Galaxy Note | Note 20, Note 20 Ultra | OLED assembly | Stylus digitiser layer is part of the screen |
| Galaxy Tab | Tab S and Tab A ranges | Tablet digitiser or panel | See the tablet page |
S-series screens
The flagship Galaxy screen is an OLED assembly, and on many S models it is supplied bonded to the phone's frame, which means the repair is closer to transferring the phone's internals into a new frame than to swapping a panel. That is a longer job than an iPhone screen and it is priced accordingly. Where a panel-only part exists we offer it, and we say plainly which you are getting. The curved edges on the Ultra models are the part of the screen that cracks first and the part that makes glass-only repairs impractical, so on those a full assembly is the standard repair.
A-series screens
The A series is the phone we see most. Its screens are flat, the parts are widely available and the repair is a routine same-visit job. Some A models use OLED and some use LCD, which is why two A-series phones that look alike are priced differently. If the picture is fine under the crack, ask about a glass-only repair; on the flat A screens it is often possible.
Folding phones
A Z Fold or Z Flip with a damaged inner screen is the most expensive repair on any phone we handle, because the folding panel is a single large part with the hinge protection built in. It is repairable, and we will quote it honestly against the value of the phone. The outer cover screen on both is a separate, smaller part and a more ordinary repair. A crease or a bubble in the inner screen's protective film, on its own, is a film replacement rather than a screen.
Batteries
Galaxy batteries wear like any other, and the phone shows a battery information screen in settings on recent models. A replacement is a same-visit job on the phone models; the back glass comes off with heat, the cell is released and swapped, and the phone is resealed. A swollen battery lifts the back glass at one edge; stop charging it and bring it in.
Charging ports
Every Galaxy here uses USB-C. The port collects lint and a cleaning is the first thing we try, free. On most models the port is on a small daughterboard that is replaced as a unit, which is a same-visit repair. Wireless charging coils that have stopped working are on the same bench.
Back glass and cameras
Galaxy back glass is bonded to the frame and is a routine replacement. Rear camera modules and the glass lens cover over them are replaced separately; a cracked lens cover with a working camera is a small job.
Liquid
The S, Note and Z families are rated to resist water when new; the A series varies by model. Every rating depends on seals that age and that are broken by the first repair of any kind. A Galaxy that went in water should be turned off and brought in the same day; see the water damage page.
Questions people ask
Why is an S-series screen more than an A-series one?
The flagship OLED is often supplied bonded to a new frame, so the repair is longer and the part costs more. A-series screens are flat, widely available and a routine job.
Can a folding screen be repaired?
Yes. The inner panel on a Z Fold or Flip is a single large part and the most expensive phone repair we do; the outer cover screen is a smaller, ordinary repair. We quote against the value of the phone.
Is a crease in the inner screen a repair?
If it is the protective film that has bubbled or creased, it is a film replacement. If the panel itself shows a line or a dead strip, it is a screen.
How long does a Galaxy screen take?
A-series screens are usually well under an hour. S-series with a frame take longer, and folding screens are a leave-it-with-us job.
Do you do Galaxy tablets?
Yes. The Tab S and Tab A ranges are covered on the tablet page.
Do you have my model in stock?
Common A and S models, yes. Call the counter with the exact model, because the Galaxy range is wide.
